Among the various research areas of CRIP-Biorefinery members, we can cite the following:
- Innovation, integration, and evaluation of biomass and urban waste applications.
- Development of multi-technological processes : chemical, biochemical, and thermal; for production of heat, electricity, clean fuel, synthesis gas, oils and specific chemical products (see table 1).
- Integration of processes into existing industries (pulp and paper, oil, starch and glucose- see table 2).
- Optimization of integrated processes (environmental impacts, material consumption, raw materials and energy, financial considerations).
- Conception and development of biorefinery processes according to a multi-disciplinary approach and sustainable development framework.
